Simply Strategy, where did it all begin? In this case, when it all began might be more pertinent to consider. Dorothy Carlin founded Simply Strategy in 2008 – a time of economic upheaval, but she believed a consulti
ng model could be devised that was both better aligned with clients’ interests and produced more powerful solutions with research-based strategies. Despite the challenges posed by launching a business during the Great Recession, Dorothy has built a successful and thriving practice formed from an insights consulting model with transparent fees and no commissions.
It wasn’t long after the launch of Simply Strategy that Dorothy started to get noticed, including recognition as one of the “40 Under 40” by the Business Observer in Florida’s Gulf Coast and as a Top Young Entrepreneur by St. Louis Small Business Monthly.
What began with determination and a laptop has grown
into a team
with complementary expertise and impressive resumes of their own who bring their unique perspectives to our insights-driven approach. Our clients range from national nonprofits and Fortune 500 companies such as Henry Schein, March of Dimes, and Centene Corporation to local favorites like Missouri Foundation for Health, Operation Food Search, and the Gateway Arch Park Foundation.
Often the pursuit of Dorothy’s own passions has steered the course of business, whether supporting local early childhood efforts in St. Louis, championing the YWCA’s mission to empower women and eliminate racism, or supporting national efforts like the Root Cause Coalition.
Philanthropic endeavors and time in the “field” are welcome departures from day-to-day business operations. She spends fifty percent of her time working with clients — listening and learning, moderating focus groups, conducting interviews, or facilitating stakeholder sessions. But her remaining time is spent on her favorite role – mentor to the growing team.
